It's been a beautifully atypical day here in eastern North Carolina.
Since I arrived here in June of 2004, there has only been one other day that I saw snow and that was nothing to write home about. It came down, everyone panicked, and then it went away by noon-ish. Today was very different.
It all started last night with the messages that schools (and countless other city and county facilities) as well as the Marine Corps Base would be closed due to expected inclement weather. We woke up to a light powder of snow beginning to fall at about 8am. It didn't stop. It kept coming. I was stoked.
Ok, it's not like we could go snowboarding, snowmobiling, or anything great like that, but the kids had a blast. Just look at the pictures.
I'm sure we'll hear about all the accidents caused by morons who can't take 10 seconds out of their lives to figure out how to drive, but I'm not worried about it.
Anyway, enjoy the pics. I'll be hating the ice that comes tomorrow morning from all the snow that thawed today and then froze overnight.
