New Beginnings

Here we are at a new year, yet again. Predictably, this seems to come about every 365 days or so and usually brings with it parties, promises, and failures.

Last night, I did something a bit different: I stayed home. No parties this year. It was actually very nice to wake up this morning to the sound of my children and not have to worry about the monster hangover in my head. The aforementioned hangover found someone else to wake up with this year.

So, with the parties out of the way, let's move on to promises... The normal promises people seem to come up with are stop smoking, lose weight, quit heroin... you know, typical. I think this year, I will have but two New Year's resolutions. The first is to get divorced. Not a hard one since I can file the paperwork in twelve days.

The other one may be a tad more difficult since it encompasses so many aspects of my life: be a better person. Ta-daaa. No explanations will be forthcoming. That's all you get.

Anyway, I hope that everyone makes their resolutions and sticks with them this time. If you don't, you will not. That's all there is to it.
