One number to rule them all

Apparently the Great and Awesome Google is about to allow those of us that use Google Voice to invite those who wish to use Google Voice (http://googlevoiceblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/invite-friend-to-google-voice.html). If anyone's interested, let me know.

Another Month

Here I sit, middle of the night, half-way through a couple of week's leave, enjoying life.

It's amazing how much you realize you miss someone.

See, my son got here two weeks ago. He's been gone since April 11th and I haven't been able to talk to him a whole lot. He's back now and I can't help but think about how much I am going to miss him when he has to leave in another four weeks.

In the mean time, we've had a blast. His sister is so happy to have her big brother home. Seth has learned to ride a bike without training wheels, he's lost another tooth, we're doing some much needed reading practice, and he's relearning what it is to be a big kid and not a baby.

-sigh-

I guess that's it for now. I just hate to not have anything to say and I hate more leaving a blog untended.

Geeking Out

Since it's been a while and I was looking for something to write about that wasn't just straight-up bitching, I'm going to talk about computers. If you don't like that topic, feel free to click away now.

For those that know me, I'm a computer geek from Hell. As of a couple of weeks ago, there was a Dell desktop (nice one belonging to Peggy), my "server", and five laptops floating around the house. We've downsized a bit since then and are working on doing more.

My laptop (HP DV6810US) was pretty nice. It was a dual core Athlon64 running at 2Ghz, 3GB RAM, 160GB HDD, LiteScribe DVD-everything and a 15" LCD. We sold that and I replaced it with this handy-dandy Acer Aspire One (AOA150 1.6Ghz Atom, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD on a 9" LCD) that I'm typing on.

I had an older Micron Transport GX2 with a 1Ghz PIII, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD on a 15" LCD. This little work horse just wasn't keeping up... It had problems with keeping power connected (a loose cable) and I just couldn't handleit any more. So, my sister graciously took it off my hands.

Peggy has a Toshiba laptop that I know nothing about other than it's kinda powerful and runs Windows Vista. She's planning on replacing that with her own Acer AOA150 (but hers is blue).

Finally there's the server. This thing has been my baby for six years now. It's a home built AMD Athlon 2600+ running at 2.2Ghz, 1.5GB RAM, a 128MB nVidia GeForce 5200, 2 500GB HDD's, 2 160GB HDD's, one 400GB HDD, and a 40GB HDD (for the OS). It's been my desktop, my web server, my media server, my gaming rig... it's taken a licking. And now it has to go...

It's being replaced by a Western Digital MyBook NAS (1TB) and a Western Digital USB external (1TB). Nice thing is that the NAS has a USB port and will serve up anythhing plugged into it over the network.

I'm hoping that we can finish this transition and get down to those three computers... would clear up a lot of space and would make my tech support job easier ;)

OK, I've geeked out enough. See you all later.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY!?!?

Welcome to Monday morning.

I had a PFT scheduled. I went to bed late. Damn, I'm tired. OK, all dressed, out the door. WHERE THE FUCK IS MY BIKE!?!?

That was my morning.

Yup, some inconsiderate FUCKTARD stole my bike last night. I hope they get caught, anally raped with miscellaneous prison objects, and then rot in Hell.

Thanks, you bastards.

A New Beginning... fer realz

Guess what... the day has FINALLY come. As of 0940 this morning, I was a free man. Free of a marriage that was shit. Free (mostly) of a woman who had used me for 10 years. I'm still stuck with her for another 11 years concerning my son, but I'm still more free than I was a little over nine hours ago. The bitch didn't even have the courtesy to show up to the divorce she wanted... Oh, well, not my problem any more.

Oh, did I mention that I was single for about 90 minutes? My beautiful fiancee saw fit to become my wife at 1115 this morning. It was a wonderful magistrate wedding. Our honeymoon will be spent playing dart at the home bar. She's such a wonderfully patient and giving woman.

I'm so stoked that my new life has started. I have a beautiful wife, a wonderful daughter, and the future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.
